The MacroSystem HDV Recorder ($1999) provides real
time, full resolution display of HDV material. With this technology, you may now
efficiently archive, duplicate and view HDV footage, without compromising the
resolution through compression and lengthy conversion times.
The MacroSystem HDV Recorder continues the MacroSystem legacy of providing
cutting-edge technologies that are easy-to-use. This exceptional product serves
HDV demands that are not currently answered by other products on the market
today. If you work with the higher resolution HDV signals, the MacroSystem HDV
Recorder is the ideal addition to your studio as it is compatible with all HDV
camcorders, recorders and HDV editing applications.
The console includes a removable 250 gigabyte hard drive, providing up to 30
project partitions to store up to 23 hours of HDV material. The HDV Recorder is
compatible with all HDV formats: 720p, 1080i, NTSC and PAL and a single hard
drive can contain any combination of these formats!
Discerning producers and editors know well the importance
of accurate monitoring during the video editing process. With HDV programming,
this can be all the more important. In a professional editing environment, it is
essential that the output result of your HDV edit session is monitored.
To do this, some solutions lower the video quality to enable it to playback on a
PC monitor. Of the current editing systems that display HDV footage, some are
limited to playing the footage back in a lower resolution “proxy” version or
require a larger home style HD TV monitor using component connectors.
The MacroSystem HDV Recorder addresses these concerns, providing individuals
with a powerful multi-purpose tool well-suited to the studio environment.
Ideal for professionals and others working with HDV
streams, the Macrosystem HDV Recorder is the perfect solution for industrial HDV
presentations and Point of Sale HDV applications where play lists and continuous
HDV streams are desired. You can select a single project for playback or assign
a series of projects for continuous high resolution playback.
With the Macrosystem HDV Recorder you have the option to enhance the 1080i
image.
There are plans to allow RS232 control of the HDV
Recorder, enabling remote and timed playback functions!
The Macrosystem HDV Recorder enables duplication of HDV
material, without the need for a costly 2nd camera or HDV tape deck.
Import your HDV programming (raw footage and/or edited program) onto the
Macrosystem HDV Recorder and, without any loss of signal due to compression, you
now have the ability to duplicate that program back to tape via their original
HDV camera.
This also provides you with a high quality, efficient and stable means for
archiving this program material on the HDV Recorder removable Hard Drive.
As the HDV format battles wages on between Blu-ray and HD
DVD, owners of HDV cameras now require a cost-efficient method for preserving
and backing up HDV footage. Mini-HDV tapes can be inefficient, costly and put
the footage at risk (Remove ‘Tape’ Drop-outs. These are all the more critical
when recording HDV signals - a tape drop-out on HDV can cause an artifact
lasting as long as one-half of one second)!
The Macrosystem HDV Recorder is THE solution for a stable, efficient and cost
effective archival medium for all your HDV programming. With its internal
(included)250 GB Hard Drive, the HDV Recorder provides you with 30 project
folders with a capacity to store up to 23 hours of HDV programming! These
folders are dynamic, enabling you to determine how much programming you wish to
store in each.
And since the 250 GB Hard Drive is removable, you can keep separate projects,
separate clients on each Hard Drive for easy storage and smooth workflow.

Saves Camera Wear & Tear
By using the HDV Recorder to present your HDV programs, you save wear and tear
on your expensive camera - reserving the tape transport and tape heads for what
they are intended for: the recording of more programs.
Hard Drive Protects Your Valuable
Projects From Drop-Outs
The HDV Recorder protects your valuable footage from tape drop-outs. HDV
technology, while providing incredible high-resolution video is at risk from
tape drop-outs. With large HDV data streams, these drop-outs cause an artifact
on-screen as long as 1/2 second. By playing your program back from the HDV
Recorders’ hard drive, your original tape is also safe from increased wear and
tear and increased drop-out risk.
Highest Resolution Playback -
Without Your Camera
The HDV Recorder provides you with the ideal High Resolution presentation device
in your home entertainment system. Playing back your HDV programs from the HDV
Recorder allows your HDV camera to be out and about, capturing more great
footage… maximizing the investment in your HDV Camcorder!

What is HDV?
*
HDV is a "consumer high-definition video format" proposed by a consortium of
manufacturers. These companies proposed the basic format specifications in July
of 2003, and the formal announcement of the format came in a press release from
the HDV consortium on 30 September 2003.
HDV is native 16:9 with supported frame rates of 60i (frames-per-second
interlaced), 30p (progressive), 50i, and 25p. All HDV variants record to
existing standard DV format digital video cassettes, the most popular form
factor of which is the Mini-DV shell. The transport stream interface conforms to
IEEE 1394 (FireWire).
HDV1 (from JVC) is a 19 megabit-per-second MPEG-2 transport stream with a
resolution of 1280 pixels wide by 720 pixels tall. HDV2 (from Sony and Canon) is
a 25 megabit-per-second MPEG-2 transport stream with a resolution of 1920 pixels
wide by 1080 pixels tall.
