HEIDI'S
PAGE
It is with great sadness that we now turn this part of our website into a tribute to our beloved Heidi. Heidi was born on October 2, 1996, and lived her life to the absolute fullest until God took her home on May 18, 2006. She died from complications associated with liver cancer. Click here to see how you can help the fight against cancer in our pets.
If you're a videographer and use Casablanca editing systems, click here to see how you too can help the pet cancer cause.
"Heidi, Our Golden Girl" will be missed my many, many people, both in our area and across the globe. Over the years, we've dressed her in funny outfits, had her hold things in her mouth, and shared those photos with the world.
Heidi was the most wonderful and loyal companion since we brought her home in the winter of 1996. If you have ever known anyone who currently has or who has had a Golden Retriever, you probably know that most of us are obsessed with the breed. Thus, we have added our obsession with Goldens, especially our precious Heidi, to our web-site.

For three years, Heidi demonstrated and helped us
as we assisted June Krogull-Augsberg with dog obedience classes
at the park district in Freeport, IL. The park district, to the surprise
of many of us, discontinued their dog classes when June decided
to retire. June taught classes for the park district for 12
years, and assumed that they, the park district, would continue
the program after her retirement. To our
surprise, the park district instead cancelled all of their dog
obedience classes. The classes will be missed by many members of
Freeport and the surrounding communities.

June's Golden, Tyler, was Heidi's best
boyfriend. Heidi and Tyler liked to clown around together, as you
will see in a picture on this page. On many occasions, Heidi and
Tyler also shared their love and talents with many other
individuals, by demonstrating at schools, hospitals, and nursing
homes in Stephenson and Green Counties. Tyler and Heidi will be missed by all who
met them and experienced their love.

Heidi was a certified therapy
dog with Therapy Dogs International of Flanders, NJ. (You will
find more information about Therapy Dogs International at: tdi-dog.org. Founded in 1976 by Elaine Smith, TDI is a
national non-profit organization that provides an outlet for
temperament testing, instruction and insurance for dogs who visit
nursing homes, hospitals and extended care facilities. A dog does
not hold the title of "Certified Therapy Dog" unless he
or she continues to work
as a visitor and share their love with others. Heidi
accumulated over 200 documented visits in her lifetime as a therapy
dog--spreading joy with a simple smile, a loving look into her eyes and a waggle
of here tail.

Winston Churchill once said that we humans could learn a lot from
dogs: patience, loyalty, trust and companionship. He was sure
right! I hope all of us will some day realize that we can learn a
lot from our dogs. We hope all of you may have the pleasure of
companion like Heidi someday.

Heidi spent many, many hours laying at our feet as we've
edited video projects, and without her help, those projects wouldn't have been
the same. She brought a special joy to our hearts as she sat on our laps
and/or laid at our feet, and even when she stopped playback with the flick of a
paw on the mouse with 15 minutes left of a two hour program!
